Our History
Farmers & Merchants Bank was founded in 1923 by a small group of Miamisburg business professionals whose philosophy was to establish a financial institution to provide basic banking services in a friendly and courteous manner. Its market was the residents and the small businesses who were often ignored by the area's larger banks. That simple philosophy and market remains the same 100 years later.
F&M Bank has steadily grown since 1923, enabling it to remain today as one of the last locally owned and independent banks in the area. The growth and stability were the result of the local management's ability to recognize and meet the financial needs of the community.
The Bank was originally in the Stocker Building on South Main Street. In 1928, it relocated to a building on the Market Square. The bank was again moved in 1954 when it constructed the building it now occupies at 41 South First Street. The building included Miamisburg's first drive-up teller window. In 1978, the bank built its full service branch at 3235 Alex-Bell Road in West Carrollton to service its West Carrollton and Moraine customers. In 2006, the Germantown branch at 2367 Beechwood Drive was opened to serve the Germantown, Carlisle and Farmersville areas. In 2016, a new branch opened in New Lebanon, Ohio, and in 2022 another location opened in Springboro, OH.
Your Hometown Bank
We're still a locally owned and independent community bank serving the general Southwest Dayton area surrounding the Miamisburg, Germantown, West Carrollton, New Lebanon, and Springboro communities. The bank's management is made up of professionals who share the same vested interest in the growth and well-being of the community. We invest deposits back into the local community in the form of loans to individuals for homes, autos, education and for other purposes to raise their standards of living; to businesses to buy new equipment or construct building additions resulting in new jobs for the community; and to local governmental bodies to provide better public services for its residents.
We support many civic, educational, and service activities though monetary donations and time volunteered by our employees to serve on various committees and boards.
Bank services have changed dramatically over the past 100 years. Daily check writing has been replaced by ATMs and debit cards. The 24-hour Automated Service Line facilitates a customer's ability to access his or her account information at the touch of a button. Credit cards and overdraft lines of credit have replaced the small consumer loan. But just because we are a community bank doesn't mean that we can't offer great features. Banking with Farmers & Merchants gives you access to over 7,500 ATMS all across the nation, the convenience to bank right from your computer or smart phone, and the ability to make a mobile deposit through our app.
Although bank services have changed over the years, our philosophy has not. We're still your independent community bank providing convenient services to you, your friends and your neighbors. And we always remember to smile and say thank you for the trust you have placed in us as your hometown bank.
